Rampmaster 3

The Rampmaster 3 is built from Bartlett Instruments V6-CF platform and is designed primarily for glass work but works well for other applications including heat treating. The Rampmaster 3 features dedicated buttons and readout and is offered to those who don't want a touchscreen.

As with all of our controls the Rampmaster 3 is paired with a low-error Special Limits thermocouple for very precise temperature sensing. Match it up with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system and treat yourself to some serious performance with an old-school vibe.

The Icon / Spark was rigorously field-tested by Bartlett, Evenheat and others over the latter course of 2023. Programming was found to be clean and simple. User interaction with the display was deemed excellent. As expected our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system performed beautifully.

Furniture Kit

Furniture Kits are necessary accessories for any kiln owner as firing directly on the kiln floor is not only bad for the kiln, but your pieces as well. In addition to this, they're also useful! A furniture kit will allow you to stack multiple shelves on top of one another in order to maximize the useable space when firing smaller pieces.

If you have one that will fit this kiln size already, then you're in luck! But if not, you'll want to ensure you add this to your order as well.

Furniture Kit

Furniture Kit includes:

  • One (1) 16" x 16" Shelf
  • Four (4) 1/2" High Posts. All posts 1" square
  • One (1) Haik Brush
  • One (1) 24oz. Glass Separator

 

Kiln furniture can be special ordered separately, but if done so the cost is ~10-20% higher and will incur a separate shipping charge. It's best to include this on your initial order of the kiln.

Stand with caster wheels

The standard order of this kiln comes with a stationary stand built to handle the weight, heat, and shape of the kiln. While this works perfectly fine, attempting to move your kiln can be a difficult maneuver and could result in a damaged stand, or worse - a broken kiln!

Ordering a stand with caster wheels ensures the whole process of moving your kiln for any reason is a smooth and simple process.

No longer worry about if you're running out of room within your garage - you can tuck your kiln away in a corner when it's not in use! And of course - if you're one for moving the kiln around the studio or other rooms, this is essentially a necessity.

    Warranty

    Evenheat warranty highlights

    • Two years from the date of purchase on the kiln, covering defects in workmanship and materials.
    • Lid exceptions: one year on Evolution Series fiber lids (ceramic kilns) and on Superwool lids (glass kilns). Heat treat ovens have no lid exception.
    • Report a defect to Soul Ceramics within 10 days of discovering it and keep your proof of purchase.
    • Evenheat repairs or replaces the defective part. Replacement parts ship prepaid from Evenheat; you pay shipping to the factory if a part or kiln has to go back.
    • Not covered: overfiring, incorrect voltage or electrical installation, freight damage, kiln furniture and ware, reduction or salt firing, and kilns altered in any way.
    • Labor is not addressed in the warranty. Expect a parts warranty with phone support for installation.

    Extended warranty (Clyde)

    • Optional extended protection from Clyde can be added to eligible products at checkout, on top of the manufacturer's warranty.
    • Clyde plans cover the core product only. Add-on options such as controllers, furniture kits, stands, blade fixtures and vents are not included.
    • Claims under a Clyde plan are filed with Clyde, not with the manufacturer. Keep your Clyde confirmation email with your order confirmation.

    In every case

    • Keep your order confirmation. It is your proof of purchase date and every manufacturer asks for it.

    Nema 5-20 plug

    Haven’t been able to use it yet. Had to figure out the plug and receptacle. I guess I should of paid closer attention to the advertisement page. It said 120v and 20 amps. That’s what I had ready for it, didn’t know the plug was different. Not sure why the plug is different.

    Not the best experience...

    I’d like to describe my entire experience—from the purchase to setting it up—so that others understand the process. The reviews on Soul Ceramics website are all about the product and super positive with no real helpful details or feedback.

    PURCHASING
    I want to start out by saying that when I placed the order, my estimated time was 10-12 weeks. As time went on, the estimate increased. While I realize there were reasons for this, this is still my experience. By the time all was said and done, it was 18.5 weeks. They did, however, zap me for the money right away. That felt a bit awkward. While Soul Ceramics was very kind and communicative (always), the experience as a whole was just so-so for the purchase of a $2,000 item.

    DELIVERY
    The arrival of the shipment was stressful. I received an email from Soul Ceramics that the kiln was shipping. Exciting! What wasn’t exciting were these two instructions: 1. The delivery service is not allowed to drop the kiln off close to your house, just by the street. 2. Before you sign off on the delivery, you have to open the box and make sure the kiln isn’t damaged. Luckily, the delivery driver wheeled the kiln on its pallet into my garage. He would not wait for me to inspect, though. So I wrote that where I signed my name.

    SET UP
    Thank you to the delivery man, because I couldn’t even get the kiln into my workshop. I had to commandeer a strong man to help. So the kiln didn’t come with a manual and the online manual doesn’t feel super clear and organized well. (As a writer who has written manuals, I believe I have a bit of street cred here.)

    EVENHEAT CONTACT
    I called Evenheat for two reasons: to find out if there is a vent, like the 14” model and to find out what I can do about some of the large holes in my kiln bricks. Apparently, there is only one guy that works at Evenheat that can answer questions, so I had to wait until he came back from vacation? After 18.5 weeks, what’s more time?

    The man at Evenheat was nice enough, but told me there’s no vent (while there is on the smaller, cheaper versions). He suggested propping open the lid, but if I do that, the kiln might not heat up? He tried to explain the mechanism in the back to me, but I don’t know if I feel comfortable trying to toy with it like that for fear I might break something. Apparently, venting is good for allowing fumes to escape—fumes that may ruin the heating elements.

    About the holes in the brick. The biggest one isn’t inside the kiln, but is so big it’s crumbling and feels like it might jeopardize the integrity of the brick. There is also a crack in one of the internal bricks. When I told him about this, he told me I could buy some repair stuff from their website to fill it. Really? I have to buy the stuff and fix it? I found that a little bit in bad taste, to be honest. Send me the stuff. I just spent over 2k and waited 18+ weeks.

    THE KILN ITSELF
    I’m just learning and have only run it twice, so I don’t think I’m qualified to review it in any technical way. I guess we’ll see! I’m hoping it’s worth this experience so far.

    I have not been able to use my new kiln yet-it appears that the plug will not fit the receptacle and I will need to get the electrician in to wire an appropriate connection. Will advise further when I can actually use it!
